Sheikh my father died one week ago and my mother wants to stay in iddah for forty days because she needs to b present for the documentation and legal work. Is this permissible for her to stay in iddah for 40 days or 4 months 10 days is mandatory for her

ANSWER: There’s no such thing as 40 days Iddah! She must observe the full iddah of 4 months and 10 days of hijri calendar, however she can go out due to necessity.

plz what is the ruling guiding a woman in iddah as in a widow after her iddah period concerning her clothes… because where I come from people say she must give it all out… what if she don’t have new once . please tell me what is the islamic guidling…

ANSWER: This is baseless. There is nothing in Islam that says she must give all her clothes away! She is free to keep all of her clothes.

ANSWER: Her iddah is like that of any widow, whether old or young: 4 lunar months and 10 days.

I wanted to know clearly. When does it become mandatory to redo the marriage for husband and wife. My husband gave me talaq 2 times. Both in different occasions. After 2nd one we got together then he left to other country and we were not talking for 2 months, cuz we were still upset with each other. Some say we have to renew or nikah.

ANSWER: It is one menstrual cycle as being with him in seclusion make her not a virgin any more.

I was officially granted my khula today by the judge. I am 7 months pregnant. When will my iddah finish. And what am I allowed to do during this my iddah. ANSWER: Iddah is over once you give birth. You can go out when needed as it is not similar to the Iddah of a widow.

ANSWER: In the Iddah of divorce or khulu, you are not confined to your house like a widow should! You can go out without any problem.
