My husband believes in praying through the taben, tabe-tabaiyn etc. According to him, jus like we ask each other to remember us in prayers, he believes in asking them who have been great muslims to pray for him to Allah. He visits Ajmer very often, should I too be a part of his visit? Our beliefs differ greatly on this so can I be his companion on his trip?

ANSWER: This is absolutely prohibited. Calling them is shirk and if he insists on it, you must leave him.

I don’t visit shrines myself but my paternal family do so and at times they force me to accomply them . What is the rulling on this ?Is it still sinful if we are forced to go there?

My family used to believe in these thangals (who I’m convinced practice sorcery) they said they were righteous people who can pray for us, we got them to pray for us when we were moving houses. These thangals gave bottles with writings to put inside the walls of the house. Do we remove these bottles or just leave them there since we don’t believe/seek protection from them?

ANSWER: It is not permissible to go to such people as this can mount to shirk. Remove these bottles, destroy it and what it contains while reciting the last three quls.

A man swears other than Allah.He has no intention of glorifying the thing by which he is swearing(other than Allah). Is it minor shirk or major shirk. If it is minor shirk, will the Muslim who swears other than Allah(did minor shirk)enter paradise?

ANSWER: Swearing by other than Allah is shirk that can be minor and it can also be major depending on one’s intention. If he repents while showing deep remorse and sincerity and is sincere in his repentance, Allah will forgive him.

Sheikh I want to ask you, is Allah’s apostle a human or a ‘Nur’ as they say, they point out that verse in the Quran as plural (referring to the whole of human kind) that Allah sent towards you a book and a ‘Nur’ which they say is The Prophet himself. Sheikh can you clarify it according to what is right and acceptable.

When someone is sick my mother takes a knife and rolls it in a headscarf then she moves over the sick person’s body and say some things, than she rolls the had scarf open and she measures the length and roll it up again and repeats the same thing 3 times or more.
