QUESTION: My father consumes Alcohol on a daily basis. My mother and we (3) siblings tried so many times to make him understand that it is haram. He always agrees that he won’t but he starts again. we are so much disturbed as I am the elder daughter(working) and my siblings are studying. could you please guide me on what to do in that case?

QUESTION: My father has been retired for 15 years and is too old to work. He does not have any pension or monthly income and he also does not have any bank balance. But he owns two plots. Is it my responsibility to provide for him or since he has plots so he has to take care of himself by selling those plots. He has kept those plots for his children.

QUESTION: I have heard of committing shirk due to ignorance can be excused and the knowledge is with Allah to know if a person is truly ignorant or has understood but rejects it. I explained shirk to my parents but they do not believe it is shirk to ask highly regarded people (who are not alive anymore) such as the ahlul bayt for help. I do not know if they die would they be excused?

QUESTION: As a girl, my mom wants me to attend Arabi classes for the Alim course, but I don’t want to go bcoz the teacher’s practices concern me. They suggest us making up missed prayers with ‘khaza’ & other innovations such as reciting yasin after fajr, fatah after zohr & so on. The teacher puts pressure on my mom to send me! Am i sinful for not going there & even disobeying my mom? Need your advice Sheikh

ANSWER: If there is no one to take care of them and if they’re not self sufficient and the would be husband wouldn’t agree her to take care of them after marriage then yes, she must give priority to looking after them.

QUESTION: I know that a wife is supposed to obey her husband in Islam. But if a husband doesn’t allow his wife to meet her parents even if they’re in critical condition and may die if they don’t get help, should the wife still obey him? Will she be sinful for still going to her parents to help them? If yes, then plz explain why.

ANSWER: If there is no one to help them for real, this becomes an obligation upon their daughter and she must do that even if her husband divorces her. She should be diplomatic with him and try to convince him peacefully.

QUESTION: Sheikh, is i am sinful if i go out with my wife and children without asking my mother’s permission? as she always create a fuss when we leave the house without taking her with us, she curse me for leaving her alone in house…I don’t know if this is right or wrong as my wife also don’t want her to go with us.
