QUESTION: If the father or mother is alive can I give sadqa/donate certain amount of money to built the masjid in their name on behalf of my parents? Will they get rewards alive and even after they are dead ?

ANSWER: Yes to both questions.

QUESTION: Is it allowed to differentiate among one’s kid as Yaqoob (pbuh) did. He loved his two sons ( Yusuf pbuh and Bin Yameen) more than others, that’s why other siblings became jealous.

ANSWER: 1- Love is in the heart and one has no control over it. What is not permissible is to differentiate in treatment.

QUESTION: My sister has stopped studying and she doesn’t want to look for a job and she doesn’t listen to our parents’ advice, she is old and she can’t even contribute to the household expenses, how do we deal with this situation sheikh?

ANSWER: Why is your father asking her to earn and contribute in the expenses?! It’s not her responsibility, it’s the duty of the father to provide for his family!

QUESTION: My mother forces me to wear taweez. So, I opened the taweez and burned the paper inside. Is this sufficient? Can iI fill it with an empty paper and seal it since i cannot show my mother that i dont have a taweez. Will that also be considered shirk? The paper had grids with number in it and some arabic text under that. What does that mean?

ANSWER: You must not wear it and must convince your mother that this is shirk so that you can save her as well from hellfire.

QUESTION: My mother is forcing me to dance at my cousin’s wedding with a non mahram..I told my mom I won’t dance because it is haram…now she is angry with me and is abusing me and not talking to me since yesterday…what should I do now?

ANSWER: Remain to be dutiful and respectful despite her behavior but hold your ground and never obey her in something that angers Allah.

QUESTION: My husband and I live in *****, we are both working and got married last year. After marriage, he uses religion only to oppress me. His brother lives with us he tells me to stay in normal clothing and asks me to spend time with him, cook for him and treat him like a son. He is only 2 years younger to me. His parents are also very controlling and create issues if I don’t call them.

ANSWER: This is totally prohibited! You must put your foot down and never come in front of him like this and never be alone with him in the house. He is obliged to provide you with a separate house. If he doesn’t do that, you are better off leaving him before you conceive from him!

QUESTION: our father passed away 7 yrs ago,he has a sis who is divorcee since more than 50 yrs ,she stay in our native place and we all brothers stay abroad,so it’s not easy for us to visit her and take care of her neither she is in that mental state that she can com and stay with our mother in city so she is old and all alone,what is our duty towards her and what shld we do so that we r not sinful .

ANSWER: No, she doesn’t have any right unless she is poor and her husband or her father or son is not there to help her financially.

QUESTION: Is it a mandatory on you to give money to your dad during your teen age when he asks you. Cos I have a dad that asks me money alot while I am still schooling and feeding myself with my own money

ANSWER: No, you are not obliged to give him anything unless: 1- You have extra than what you need. 2- He is in real need for that 3- He is not going to use it to help your siblings or anyone else with it.

QUESTION: If a brother who is a millionaire and doesn’t want to pay his own brother’s debt( which is very little ) and instead he wants to build a mosque in his father’s name? As he thinks it is not his duty to pay his brothers debt.. Is this ok?
