I want to know the ruling on engagement rings. I know exchanging engagement rings is not from our tradition . My mother and some of my family members are planning to go to my fiancé’s home and give the ring as a form of gift from my side . ANSWER: The concept of giving ring to let everyone know that she’s engaged is not permissible as it’s imitating the disbelievers.

Sheikh i heard that a boy and a girl can talk to each other without being Engaged if their family knows and they are serious & want to marry and a mufti appove it .is it true?(if girl’s parent’s doesn’t know about that he is talking to him?)

Sheikh,if one doesnt do the whole wedding exchange process on wedding but they gift each other rings after the wedding is this permisable? And the lady only wears it infromy of mahrams and they the guy so that everyone knows he is married after by seeing the ring om is this okay sheikh?

ANSWER: Nikah is much better and recommended as in the case of engagement, they are non mahram to one another and can’t communicate.
