ANSWER:

It’s not your duty at all to live with them or serve them. You have all the right to have a separate accommodation. 

 

Am a doctor by profession presently not living with my in laws as we work out of the state.but whenever I think of living with them as they are old I get hurt because they sometimes taunt.i get so much hurt that I can’t be normal but Alhamdulillah I never misbehave.i never said a word back.i want to settle in Muslim country for my kid but my husband wants to stay with his fam

I have told my in-laws I don’t celebrate birthdays anymore but they took it the wrong way thinking I’m saying I’m getting older and it’s for kids. I went quiet as they don’t understand anything I say when it comes to Islam and they don’t like to be told. My mil said its ok to do kids birthdays. How do I deal with a situation like this?
