Ramadan lesson nr 12

We talked about the things that the scholars have their consensus on that they nullify your fasting. And we said that there are seven things:

1. Eating
2. Drinking
3. Sexual intercourse and emission of semen intentionally
4. Menstruation
5. Post birth bleeding
6. Apostasy
7. Intentional vomiting

Now it doesn’t mean that the minute you do one of these things, your fasting is voided or nullified. No, scholars say that: you have to have three things altogether so that, these things would nullify your fasting.

Ramadan lesson nr 11

Last lesson we talked about the things that nullify one’s fasting. We mentioned three things: eating, drinking and sexual intercourse.

And we said that, if you eat normal food, or if you swallow anything that can be swallowed, even if it wasn’t food, then your fast will be nullified. If somebody intentionally swallows a medicine-pill or a small stone, with that he has nullified his fasting.

She said that the Prophet (salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “no fast is accepted from the person who does not commit his intention to fast before dawn”. So the fasting of a person is not accepted, if he does not commit the intention to fast before the break of dawn. This is one Hadeeth.

In our last meeting we talked about the conditions that should be present in a person so that fasting of Ramadan is obligatory upon him and we talked about Islam, the first condition, we talked about reaching the age of puberty and we talked about being in a sound mind. Today insha'Allah we will talk about the forth condition which is the ability.

In order for you to be a must that you fast Ramadan, you should be able to fast Ramadan, so if you are not able Ramadan is not obligatory for you to fast. But how do we define the word “able”?

In our last meeting we talked about the conditions that should be present in a person so that fasting would be obligatory for that person and we talked about Islam. Without Islam is not obligatory for you to fast and we talked about reaching the age of puberty, if you are not in that stage it is not obligatory for you to fast, though it is preferable, it is recommendable for parents to do that and teach their children to do that.

Ramadan lesson nr 7

Today we will talk in sha’Allah about the conditions that must be present in a person so that fasting would be obligatory upon him.

Without these conditions fasting is not
acceptable or fasting is not a must, it can be acceptable but it is not a must.

These conditions are: Islam, puberty, to be in a sound mind, to be able of fasting, to be settled, or resident and to have nothing to prevent you from fasting and we will go into details in sha’Allah.

Today insha’Allah we will discuss some of the virtues of the month of Ramadan.

As we all know Ramadan is the 9th month of the Islamic calendar. And it has some advantages and virtues that Allah Azza wa jal has put in this month and all Muslims around the world know that, this month is a holy month.

Ramadan lesson nr 4

Last lesson, we talked about sighting the moon, and we emphasized, that in Islam we know the beginning and the end of months by sighting the moon. Especially the month of Ramadan and the month that follows it, when we need to know the beginning and the end of the months for performing forms of worships to Allah the Almighty.

Now, some would say is it compelling, is it a must, if the moon is sighted in one region that all Muslims worldwide, consider that as sighting for their regions or not?
