It is permissible for a Muslim to entertain himself providing that this type of entertainment doesn’t include forbidden things.

For example, any games with music, nudity, excessive violence or claiming to follow another religion; all of this is forbidden.

Besides, spending a lot of time on permissible games is not recommended as it destroys the heart and makes it connected to other than Allah.

A topic of discussion has been coming up frequently in some of the circles of brothers in my country and elsewhere; it has to do with respect to video games in which there are things that go against islam eg characters in the games venerate false deities.
