Is it a major sin to make a promise to Allah in exchnage for something? i.e. saying ‘Oh Allah help me pass my exams and i always aim to wake up or tahajjud”?

ANSWER:
This is not a sin.
This is called a vow (nadhr) which is permissible but not recommended and one must fulfill this vow if they made it.
